Identity and Access Managment
Category: Software • Time: 3,5 Years • 2023-2026
In this role I designed solutions that simplify how organizations manage identities and access. I worked on creating and improving interfaces for identity and role management, automating workflows, as well as on/-offboarding and access.

Sole UX designer for the majority of the project lifecycles. Later collaborated with the design team while continuing to lead my own projects.
Consolidation of two IGA interfaces (Post-Merger)
Project type: Product integration of two Identity Governance & Administration (IGA) UIs.
Problem: Following a merger, both companies operated complementary IGA products with overlapping functionality, delivered through two separate UIs, navigation structures, and workflows.
Opportunity: Consolidate both products into a single UI covering the combined functionality, without inheriting either legacy system's technical or usability debt.
Users: Admins and IT staff managing identities and access within a company as well as team managers requesting access for their team members.
Result: A unified concept, documented through use cases and mockups, that development built out over roughly 18 months. A large portion of the design was implemented. I supported conducting recurring design QA to confirm the implementation matched the design intent.
Legacy Access Management Product Redesign
Project type: Full product rebuild, built on the company's existing design system
Problem: Aging technology behind the product created a growing security and maintainability risk resulting in a full rebuild of the product. Usability had not previously been prioritized, despite friction for the technical teams relying on it.
Opportunity: Use the rebuild to also address the usability, reviewing the existing UI, retaining what worked, and redesigning the rest within the company's design system.
Users: IT personnel, including 3rd-line IT, responsible for troubleshooting access issues.
Result: Currently in development and nearing completion. The design system was extended with new components created for this project. Multiple rounds of design QA confirmed implementation accuracy. No formal usability data exists yet, as the product hasn't launched.
New Self-Service Access Management UI
Project type: New UI design, self-service access management for FIDO tokens
Problem: The product's scope and requirements existed mainly as undocumented knowledge, shaped by deep technical understanding of the space but not yet translated into a defined, user-facing set of workflows.
Opportunity: Close a gap in the company's access management portfolio by offering self-service FIDO token management comparable to competitor offerings as well as translating the PM's technical vision into user-centered flows for two distinct user groups.
Users: End users of companies using FIDO tokens for access management. Groups split in two, each with different available options.
Result: UI prototype, built on the company's design system, currently being used to secure stakeholder buy-in and gather customer feedback. Not yet handed over to development.
Due to confidentiality agreements, I’m unable to showcase these projects publicly (mockup is anonymized) but am happy to discuss the details and share insights in a personal conversation. Please have a look at the other projects in this portfolio showing more of my design process.
